What is gardening in brief?

Gardening is the practice of growing and planting horticultural plants.

For their flowers, foliage, or overall appearance, ornamental plants are often grown in gardens; useful plants such as root vegetables, leafy vegetables, fruits , and herbs are grown for consumption, for use as colorants, or for medicinal or cosmetic use. Gardening is considered a relaxing activity by many people.

Gardening varies in size from fruit orchards to long boulevard plantations with one or more different types of shrubs , trees and herbaceous plants, to suburban back gardens with lawns and base plantations, and container gardens grown indoors or outdoors.

Gardening may be very limited, with just one plant form being cultivated, or include a variety of plants in mixed plantings.
