What is Candidiasis?
Candidiasis is a fungal infection caused by any kind of yeast (Candida). In some countries it is usually called thrush when it affects the mouth. Symptoms and signs include white patches of the mouth and throat on the tongue or elsewhere.
Soreness and swallowing problems may also be other symptoms. It is known as a yeast infection or a thrush when it affects the vagina. Symptoms and signs include genitals, burns and sometimes white cheese-like vagina discharge.
Penis yeast infections are less common and usually occur with itchy rash. Yeast infections can very rarely become invasive and spread to other parts of the body. This can lead to fever together with other symptoms depending on the components concerned.
Candida albicans can cause more than 20 types of infection with Candida albicans. Mouth infections among children under one month, the elderly and those with weak immune systems are most common.
Include HIV / AIDS, medicines used after organ transplantation, diabetes and corticosteroids, which are conditions that lead to a weak immune system.
Dentures, antibiotic and breastfeeding therapy are other risks. In those with weak immune systems and after antibiotic use, vaginal infections occur more frequently during pregnancy.
Invasive candidiasis risk includes babies with babies with low birth weight, surgical recovery, people in intensive care and those with an immune system that is otherwise compromised.
Symptoms Of Candidiasis
Depending on the area affected, the signs and symptoms of candidiasis vary. Most candid infections lead to minimal complications, such as redness, itching, and inconvenience, even if complications in certain populations are serious or even lethal.
For healthy persons (Immunocompetent), candidiasis is usually a localized skin, fingernail or toenail (onychomycosis) infection or mucosal membranes including the oral cavity and pharynx (thrush), esophagus and the genitalia (vagina, penis, etc.); sites of candida infection are less common in a healthy human.
Immunocommitted persons have a much greater potential to become systemic and lead to a much serious condition called candidemia, called a fungemia.
Candida infections in the esophagus occur more often than in healthy individuals. Oesophageal candidiasis symptoms include swallowing difficulties, painful swallowing, abdominal pain , nausea, and vomiting.
Causes Of Candidiasis

The candida yeast is usually found in healthy humans, often in part of the normal oral and intestinal flora of the human body, and especially on the skin; however, its growth is usually limited by the human immune system and the competition between other microbial organisms such as bacteria that occupy the same sites in the human organism.
Candida needs growth moisture, especially on the skin. For instance, using long periods of wet swimwear is considered a risk factor. Candida may also lead to baby paint rashes. In extreme cases, skin and mucus infections may enter the stream of the blood and cause Candida systemic infections.
The risks of candidiasis are increased by HIV / AIDS, mononucleosis, cancer treatment, steroids, stress, use of antibiotics, diabetes and nutrient insufficiency. Hormone substitution and treatment for infertility can also predispose.
Applying corticosteroids inhaled increases the risk of mouth candidiasis. Corticosteroids inhaled with other risk factors, such as antibiotics, oral glucocorticoids, non-rinsing of mouth after the inhalation of corticosteroids or high inhalation corticosteroids, are a risk for humans to become even higher.
Antibiotic treatment may lead to the elimination of natural yeast competitors for oral and intestinal flora resources, thereby enhancing the severity of the condition.
Significant candidiasis factor predisposing are weakened or undeveloped immune systems or metabolic disease.
Nearly 15% of people with weakened immune systems develop systemic Candida-related disease. Diets with high levels of simple carbohydrates affect oral candidiasis ratings.
