The American artist and film directress and production pioneer of the visual art movement known as Pop Art, was Andy Warhol, born of Andrew Warhola, from 6 August 1928 to 22 February 1987. His work examines the relationships that thrived in the 1960s between the culture of art, advertisement and celebration and cover a wide range of media, including paintings, silkscreening, photography, films and sculpture. Among his most well-known pieces include Campbell's Sup Cans (1962) and Marilyn Diptych (1962), Chelsea Girls (1966) and the Bursting Plastic Inevitable (1966–67) multimedia events. Warhol was born and raised in Pittsburgh and began a successful business career.
